Introductory Session
When life feels heavy, whether you're navigating significant loss, anxiety, grief or simply the ups and downs of being human,
holistic counselling offers a grounded, compassionate space to begin healing.
In our introductory session, we work together to gently explore what’s weighing on you and uncover supportive ways to move through the pain.
​
In our 75 minutes together, we’ll make space to explore what’s most present for you, but we won’t be able to cover everything in depth. This first session is a beautiful way to get a feel for how we can work together, and to see if continuing with the 6-week Inner Shift program feels right for you.

This is your time, your space, and your healing held with empathy, care, and the belief that you don’t have to face it alone.

Q: What is Somatics?
​
Somatics is healing that begins in the body, not the mind.
It’s based on the understanding that our bodies remember, they hold our experiences, our stress, and often the emotions we never had space to express.
When we go through difficult seasons, our bodies adapt to keep us safe. But over time, those protective patterns can leave us feeling tense, anxious, or disconnected.
Somatic healing gently brings awareness back to the body through grounding, breath, and movement. It’s not about “doing it right”, it’s about learning to listen to the signals your body sends, and slowly building safety from within.
It’s where we begin to feel again, at a pace your body can handle.

Q: What does nervous-system regulation mean?
​
Our nervous system is like our internal safety gauge, it lets us know when we feel calm, stressed, or overwhelmed. When we’ve lived in survival mode for too long, that gauge gets stuck on high alert, and even small things can feel like too much.
Nervous-system regulation means learning how to bring yourself back to a place of steadiness after activation.
In our work together, I’ll guide you through small, practical ways to do that, simple grounding moments that remind your body it’s safe to rest, to breathe, to be.
Regulation isn’t about being calm all the time, it’s about knowing how to come home to yourself when life feels heavy.

Q: How is this different from traditional counselling?
​
Traditional counselling often focuses on thoughts, stories, and problem-solving from the neck up.
My work includes that, but we also gently involve the body, because healing doesn’t just happen in the mind.
We blend talk therapy with somatic practices like grounding, breathwork, EFT tapping, or self inquiry to help the body release what it’s been holding.
A steady, trauma-informed approach that supports healing through safety, awareness, and regulation.
It’s talk therapy that listens to the body, too.

Q: What if I’m not ready to go deep yet?
​
That’s completely okay, and actually, very normal.
You don’t need to dive into the deep or painful parts right away. Healing begins with safety, not intensity.
We start by noticing what’s happening now, how you’re feeling day to day, how your body responds to stress, and what helps you feel even a little more settled.
As your nervous system begins to regulate and you feel safer, your body will naturally guide us toward what it’s ready to explore, at its own pace.
You set the pace. I simply walk beside you.

Q: Is this approach right for me?​
​
If you’ve been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally numb, or disconnected, this work may be exactly what your body has been asking for.
It’s gentle, personalised, and fully adaptable to where you are. Some women come with a significant loss, deep grief, or trauma; others with stress and burnout, all are welcome here.
This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about remembering the woman you already are, beneath the noise. I’m here to hold space for you, no matter what that looks like, whether you need to be heard, to feel, or simply to rest and breathe again.
